Not your average Superhero
When you think of a superhero, the first thought that comes to mind is probably Iron Man, Captain America or even Black Panther. The typical heroes we have grown up watching and adoring, enthusiastically supporting in all their adventures and challenges. Now those are superheroes. But there are more to superheroes than just super-suits and superpowers. There are superheroes out there that live their normal lives but achieve extraordinary goals everyday. Ordinary people with disabilities that live super-lives that should be celebrated just as much as Black Widow and Captain Marvel. Those superheroes are the ones we’re highlighting and applauding through the Superheroes Series.
The Superhero Series, powered by Marvel, has always been an event that celebrated the best of the Superheroes and their Sidekicks ever since its launch in 2016. This platform is the only initiative in the UK that has actively created sporting events for everyday people with disabilities to be empowered, uplifted and commended for their heroism.
Pfizer is particularly passionate about supporting this incredible initiative given it directly supports people with a range of disabilities, including those who have been impacted by the disease areas we research and treat. In 2022, we are proud to be supporting and sponsoring the Superhero Series for the fourth consecutive year. The ethos of Superhero Series is to create inclusive and fun-filled physical activities for many people with disabilities. We act as their Avengers Tower and Base as they embark on the adventures thrown at them through the series. We act as their Jarvis in their time of battle: supporting and championing their efforts with encouragement and enthusiasm.
These superheroes may not have the capes and they may not have the typical superpower, but they do have the boldness and resilience that make a superhero great. That is why all the superheroes so far have been truly deserving of the title ‘Superhero’ and us their ‘Sidekicks’.
If you think you have what it takes to become our next superhero or sidekick to fight side by side in the next missions HQ has planned, visit the official Superhero Series website and sign up.
