I Am Science

Today, patients benefit from innovative medicines and vaccines which can improve, transform and in some cases potentially save lives. But the outlook for tomorrow could be even brighter.

'I Am Science' is a Pfizer UK campaign which aims to improve understanding of our industry and inspire the next generation of scientists.

From discovering penicillin to precision medicine, pharmaceutical innovation has changed our lives. Diseases like HIV are now considered a long-term condition1 and we have vaccines to prevent conditions that had the potential to threaten our children's futures just a generation ago.2  The quest, though, for innovative medicines is a painstaking and lengthy one.

Conditions like dementia and Parkinson's disease are becoming increasingly important in countries with ageing populations.3,4 These are just two examples of the many difficult and complex health challenges of the future.

As our knowledge grows, medicines are becoming more sophisticated and the search for innovative treatments gets even harder. Milestones are now often reached through many small steps, instead of in leaps and bounds.

Millions of people live healthier lives as a result of scientists’ work and their collaboration with universities and charities. Great science means sharing knowledge and resources to work faster and achieve more. New ways of collaboration are being pioneered to support future innovation and to bring new hope.

Innovation must be valued. Thats why Pfizer has launched 'I Am Science' to inspire the next generation of scientists in order to keep the wheel in innovation turning. We need great minds, which means creating the right environment to inspire, and support the work of, future generations of scientists.
