Sarcoma UK provides information and support for sarcoma patients in the
UK, as well as education for healthcare professionals working with sarcomas.
One of Pfizer's donations helped Sarcoma UK organise the annual educational conference for the British Sarcoma Group – healthcare professionals who specialise in the care and treatment and of patients with a sarcoma. The second enabled the organisation to run two patient member meetings on behalf of GIST Support UK. GIST is a rare sarcoma and bringing patients together to share experiences and learn from specialist professionals is a vital source of support.
As a guide the direct donation re GIST meetings represents 11.7% of the total income of Sarcoma UK based on their last declared financial year (06-07). The donation for the BSG Conference managed by Sarcoma UK represents 11.9% of the event income.
